Ingredients

Whether you’re new to Wild (and a very Wild welcome to you if so!) or you’ve been here from the very beginning (hey you, thanks for sticking around!), you may have gathered that the base formula of our refills is the same, and we create those magnificent scents which grace your lovely pits with additional essential oils and extracts.

So what’s in that magic base formula?

Please welcome to the stage: The Wild base ingredients!

First up, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride. In simple terms, this is coconut oil combined with glycerin (a sweet, syrupy solution). This acts as an emollient to help make sure your deodorant glides onto your pits without pulling (ouch!)

Second up, we have Tapioca Starch. You may have heard of bubble tea from the 2010 BOOM in popularity of this drink, originating from Taiwan in the 1980s. Believe it or not, we use the same ingredient extracted from the root of the cassava plant! We love it for its absorbent properties which helps keep your pits nice and dry.

Next, we have Stearyl Alcohol, a white, waxy solid that prevents the deodorant from separating into its oil and liquid components. This ingredient can be a little misunderstood because we see “alcohol” and think drying, harmful, harsh on skin. It’s actually a non-drying ingredient, touted for its conditioning and softening properties.

All rise for Sodium Bicarbonate, a.k.a. baking soda. The humble kitchen cupboard essential is taking a walk on the Wild side! This is very effective at controlling odour and is added in minimal quantities to reduce the risk of skin irritation (and for those that do find they have irritation from Wild’s regular range, our sensitive skin range is for you!).

Let’s hear some noise for Coconut Oil! Coconut oil is a really moisturising ingredient that has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties whilst smelling great. There’s not much more to say - we have nothing but love for coconut oil.

Now for Sunflower Seed Wax, a vegan wax which helps out with ensuring that smooth texture upon application. It’s also rich in Vitamin E which is great for your skin as it’s brilliant at locking in moisture. Honestly, we’re pampering your pits at this point!

Make some room for Parfum. Don’t be so quick to think immediately of chemical fragrances - it’s not quite where we’re headed! Ideally, we wouldn't use the word "Parfum" in our ingredients but we are required by cosmetics regulations to label our perfume combinations with this! It may look generic, but each scent has a different combo of fragrances, so on our ingredients page, you can check out which extracts have been used under each scent.

It’s time to look at Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter, otherwise known as Cacao butter. Everyone loves a bit of this butter, as it’s loaded with fatty acids to ensure intense hydration for your pits, and reduces the skin's moisture loss by creating a protective “barrier” on the skin.

Another great butter we all love, it has to be Shea Butter. A true queen in the world of moisturisers. Soft and smooth pits all round!

And last, but not least, Glyceral Caprylate. This ingredient helps all of those emollient ingredients do their job, and it also stabilises the product - think of it as your friend on a night out keeping the group together. Heroic, and invaluable.

What a recipe, eh?

Like any good chef, we’re always looking for the next way to improve, adapt, and develop our recipe. Wild things are always on the menu!

P.S. *Disclaimer* Please don't eat your Wild though...
